My friend, is hosting a contest! I encourage every one of you to join. It'll be great fun! The contest information is as follows.

Solar Kingdoms Art Contest

RULES AND INFORMATION:
The artwork submitted needs to follow the character guidelines I provide below, with character references. Both Digital and Traditional media are accepted.
I would prefer finished pieces but sketches can be submitted as long as they are cleaned up. You can submit up to three entries.

Send your entries to me in a note when you are finished. I’ll favorite them in a folder all together and post them in this section.

JUDGING:
The entries will be judged mainly on character accuracy and creativity. Obviously following the rules is a must.

PRIZES:
1st Place will receive a full year subscription to DeviantArt! And a fully colored (digitally or traditional colored pencil or marker) commission of your choice. (no background, just a solid color)

2nd place will receive a three month subscription to DeviantArt! And a clean digital line art commission your choice. (No background)

3rd place will receive a 1 month subscription to DeviantArt! And a clean pencil sketch commission of your choice (No background)

4th, 5th and 6th place runners up will receive a clean pencil sketch commission of choice also. (No background)

CONTEST DESCRIPTION:

I want the artwork mainly focused on Ja’ack (Hollow) Pal’nerick. One of the main characters in a trilogy me and *Mudora are writing. Ja’ack MUST be in the image.
However, having Roary Derekelt or Avalette Ekdrayas in the image as well is a BIG plus.
The characters must be in context. Anything overtly sexual or gory will be disqualified. No Yaoi AT ALL. The relationships need to be accurate. They are as follows:

Roary and Ja’ack are don’t get along exceptionally well at first. They become FRIENDS later in the story. They were enslaved together under Avalette for two years until it was discovered Roary was a prince that had been missing. You may decide which stage of the relationship to draw.

Avalette and Ja’ack start off as mortal enemies. They loath each other in the beginning. He kidnaps her, then she enslaves him for three years before he is banished. At a much later point they come to a deep understanding of each other and fall in love, but the relationship is very secret. Images between them can be romantic but nothing explicit please.

As a side note, Roary is Avalette’s son in law.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION’S AND REFERENCES:



Ja’ack:

He SORT OF has Johnny Depp’s face. But it’s a little more angular. His nose is shaped rather odd too. From the profile he looks like someone hit him with a bar on the bridge of his nose. There’s a lovely little indent there. It’s important! Ja’ack is 5’10’’. He has dark brown, almost black hair that hangs to his mid-calf. It’s straight. His eyes are dark brown. His ears are pointed. He has some scars, you’ll see in the reference images. He’s quite tan, as he originates from a tropical planet and his people have dark-ish skin. He’s quite muscular as he is a trained warrior/assassin. He is also a mage, and a fairly good one. His favorite element to play with is fire. He sometimes carries a bow, but very rarely. His sword is double edged and scary looking with weird notches in it. It’s a poisonous blade that is one of seven ever made.

Ja’ack is later in the story found to be the second son of a King. He is later a king himself.

Roary:

Roary has a much softer complexion than Ja’ack. He’s 6’4” tall. His hair is a light-ish blonde color and its rather shaggy. (See Ref images). He’s got fair skin and blue eyes. He’s a bit scrawny in comparison to Ja’ack, but is obviously taller. His ears are pointy and longer than Ja’acks.He doesn’t smile very often. He’s an incredible magician when it comes to ice spells.

When a certain moon comes up on the Planet Shesetirn he turns into a beast. (References below) In this form his skin is light blue and his hair and eyes are white. He has a tail and his ears are very, very long. In this form he is violent and unmanageable unless he takes a drug, given in the form of a needle (like a shot). The liquid is a bright clear blue. He can handle a sword pretty well.

Avalette:

Avalette has platinum blonde hair and grey eyes. She’s very fair skinned. She’s 5’2” tall but has a very demanding presence. She is the Queen of Shesetirn. (A planet.) She often looks very stern in public. She’s a good magess and can do a little bit of everything. Her ears are sharply pointed but not long. She wears a lot of jewelry. Most of her clothing is sort of medieval looking dresses, very elegant.

SETTING:

I’m not going to be picky here. Large pretty castles, outside in any kind of climate or weather. The castle Avalette and Roary live in medieval looking, very large and very pretty. Sort of fairytale like.

The castle Ja’ack later rules at is a very open castle. It’s set on a cliff on a tropical coast.
